Single and double-sided polyurethane-impregnated foam for the environmental and surface protection of aircraft structures.
The HI-TAK StretchSeal is a polyurethane rolled sealant (PRS) designed for surface and environmental protection applications in private, commercial, and military aircraft. It meets the corrosion-prevention requirements of original equipment manufacturers and service organizations and makes for an excellent choice when simplifying installation activities and handling maintenance or repair tasks. The PRS is very cohesive and can be used to protect irregular surfaces.
HI-TAK StretchSeal is polyurethane impregnated-foam that can be stretched across surfaces during application. This makes it a versatile sealing option for installation and maintenance activities. Upon application, users get complete protective seal against corrosion which works optimally even under fluctuating temperatures. Av-DEC offers two types of HI-TAK StretchSeal solutions for aviation applications. The first is a single-sided option, AD89513, with one tacky surface and Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) backing. The second option, AD89503, is a two-sided PRS with tacky surfaces on both sides. Av-DEC HI-TAK StretchSeal has been successfully used to prevent moisture ingress and corrosion since its inception. Benefits to the use of these PRS products include the following:
HI-TAK StretchSeal is made from a polyurethane-impregnated foam core, which gives it elastomeric features. During the application of this PRS product, we recommend that it be stretched by 25% to 50% of its original length. It will then form a complete compressed barrier against moisture and corrosion. Customer may choose whatever length and width best fits the applicable installation or maintenance specifications.
The exceptional adhesive nature of HI-TAK StretchSeal makes it a superb corrosion inhibitor for irregular surfaces, painted parts, and mated structures. The benefits of using an elastic PRS impregnated foam include:
The Double-Sided PRS solution can be used as a sealant between aircraft assemblies. This totally blocks moisture from penetrating vulnerable spaces in an aircraft. Application of HI-TAK Double-Sided StretchSeal is done under compression. The seal it creates will not crumble under vibrations or extreme conditions.
Use this PRS product to protect electrical connectors, coaxial connectors, and wire harnesses on aviation components. The advantages gained by applying the HI-TAK StretchSeal double-sided option include:
HI-TAK StretchSeal can be used in conjunction with other sealing solutions such as the Self-Leveling Green. The benefits of using both sealing products in tandem include creating a complete seal against moisture during the installation of fasteners, cannon plugs, and wiring.
Hi-TAK StretchSeal can be used in conjunction with Av-DEC Self Fusing Silicone Tape (AD59163 and AD59163FR) as a protective layer.
AD59163: Self Fusing Silicone Tape-Unsupported silicone rubber tape which will adhere to itself at room temperature. Tape has a triangular cross section with a center guideline and is interleafed with release film. Some uses include electrical wiring harness wrapping and overwrapping of Av-DEC StretchSeal to provide moisture-proofing and allow for easy removal when necessary. Meets or exceeds CID A-A-59163A (formerly MIL-I 46852C) requirements for silicone rubber tape.
AD59163FR: Flame-Retardant Self-Fusing Silicone Tape-Unsupported silicone rubber tape which will adhere to itself at room temperature. Tape has a triangular cross section with a center guideline and is interleafed with release film. Some uses include electrical wiring harness wrapping and overwrapping of Av-DEC StretchSeal tape to provide moisture-proofing and allow for easy removal when necessary
HI-TAK StretchSeal can be applied as a sealant during diverse installation, maintenance, and repair tasks. This effective PRS product can be used to form a moisture barrier on:
