Av-DEC SpraySeal SF5387 is a two-component polyurea sprayable sealant developed for use as a secondary fuel vapor barrier coating and for protecting aircraft structures from moisture and environmental exposure. The low-viscosity formulation allows the sealant to be spray-applied to large, complex, or hard-to-reach surfaces, forming a durable and transparent protective coating once cured.
SpraySeal SF5387 is specifically formulated for resistance to hydrocarbon-based fuels and oils, including Jet A fuel. When applied, it forms a tough, self-leveling polymer film that serves as a moisture barrier and secondary vapor barrier on composite and aluminum aircraft structures. The transparent finish allows for continued visual inspection of underlying surfaces without removal.
SpraySeal SF5387 is engineered for efficient installation during aircraft manufacturing, maintenance, and repair operations. The sealant can be spray-applied using a Sulzer MixCoat Spray tool and features a fast-set formulation that becomes tack-free in approximately 15 minutes. This enables real-time application while minimizing aircraft downtime.
Once cured, SpraySeal SF5387 forms a durable polyurea film that provides long-term environmental protection. The coating is resistant to moisture ingress and hydrocarbon exposure, making it suitable for use on aircraft structures where traditional compression seals are not practical.
Common application areas include fuel tank exterior surfaces, engine fan cowls, cargo bay structures, and other aircraft areas requiring a secondary fuel vapor barrier or moisture protection. The sealant can be applied to both composite and aluminum substrates.
SpraySeal SF5387 cures to a transparent finish, allowing inspection of the underlying structure without removing the coating. This feature supports routine inspection and maintenance activities while maintaining continuous protection against moisture and fuel vapor exposure.
SpraySeal SF5387 is intended for use by OEMs, maintenance teams, and repair organizations seeking a sprayable corrosion-prevention solution with proven fuel resistance. The combination of fast cure, spray application, and durable performance makes it a practical choice for secondary fuel vapor barrier and environmental sealing applications across a wide range of aircraft platforms.
