A two-part polyurethane sprayable sealant for creating watertight seals on aircraft surfaces and structures for real-time installations, repairs, and maintenance.

In the aviation industry, hard-to-reach areas have proven to be the bane of many installation, maintenance, and repair service providers. Some assemblies must be disassembled or removed to gain access to certain areas. Av-DEC SpraySeal was designed as a sprayable sealant to provide a complete seal when applied on surfaces.

AV-DEC SpraySeal was built for sealing aircraft interiors by creating a water- and moisture-proof barrier. The sprayable sealant is a two-part polyurea corrosion inhibitor that can be sprayed or brushed onto surfaces. SpraySeal is easily applied and gels in minutes, making it an excellent solution for real-time maintenance, installation, and repair activities. Some of the useful characteristics of Av-DEC SpraySeal sealants include:

  • A durable sprayable sealant which provides complete protection against corrosion and corrosive agents.
  • A non-hazardous, eco-friendly seal that can be applied without fear of damaging emissions that could harm the environment.
  • Quick gel times which make real-time applications possible while drastically reducing aircraft downtime.
  • A sprayable sealant that is usable on hard-to reach surfaces, assemblies, and structures without the need to disassemble components.

The Chemistry Behind Av-DEC SpraySeal Sealants

Av-DEC SpraySeal is a product of the two-part polyurea corrosion-inhibiting formula developed by AV-DEC engineers. This makes it a powerful sealant that rubber and other traditional materials can't match. SpraySeal has a low viscosity which not only makes it sprayable, but also allows it to be applied with a brush. It is transparent, meaning hard-to reach surfaces can still be inspected without the struggle of removing the formed sealant. Among the carefully engineered benefits of Av-DEC SpraySeal are the following features:

  • A complete but translucent seal that ensures the surfaces on which it has been applied can still be inspected without removing the sealant.
  • Excellent cohesive properties which ensure SpraySeal creates a durable barrier and adheres to both itself and the surface.
  • An easy removal process leaves behind no residue that might cause corrosion or damage the original surface.
  • Retains its flexibility long after application, ensuring it will not dry out or crack under stress or fluctuating environmental conditions.

A Versatile Sealant for Diverse Industrial Applications

Av-DEC SpraySeal is a versatile sprayable sealant designed for internal and external applications on aircraft. It can be applied on vertical surfaces, irregular surfaces, or even complex structures with ease. All that is needed is the proper means of application such as a spray application tool. On application, SpraySeal forms a self-leveling compound that prevents corrosion. The benefits of its versatility include:

  • High resistance to environmental stress such as vibrations, ensuring a complete seal is maintained at all times.
  • High resistance to abrasion, making it excellent for use in areas that experience high traffic.
  • The sealant is sprayable and can also be applied with a brush, giving maintenance and repair crews multiple options.
  • A non-hazardous formula which can be applied inside cabin areas as it produces no harmful emissions which might affect passengers.
  • A fire-retardant seal capable of passing the 12 second vertical burn test.

Industrial Application Areas

Av-DEC SpraySeal can be applied to diverse internal and external portions of an aircraft. The sealant is commonly used to prevent corrosion in these areas, among others:

  • Cargo floorboards
  • Cargo bay structures
  • Gasket fasteners
  • Lavatories
